French knitting anyone? or spool knitting or corking or knitting with a knitting nobby or knitting Nancy?
I had this dilemma...what the heck am I going to do with all the leftover sock yarn I have and will have? I could make a scrappy something and just knit rows and rows and rows...I could knit squares one or two each of every leftover yarn then have a pile of squares instead of yarn.....then my Creativity Angel whispered in my ear...remember when you where a little girl and you had a red wooden knitting spool and you made a cord that went on for yards and yards?....Do that with the leftover yarn! Knowing never to argue with the Creativity Angel(she nags and nags until I at least try what she suggests) I agreed and promptly went to the local craft chain store and bought a new knitting spool. Unfortunately I don't have my red knitting spool from when I was a little girl anymore but I have the memories of using it. Memories I thought I lost but where brought back to life again last night as I started a new I-cord that will go on for yards and yards.
I knitted with my new spool for quite a long time...you see it was raining, thundering, lightening the power was out, it was getting dark but I had candle light with the rain tapping on the roof and I knitted.
I thought about the time when I was a little girl and knitting for the very first time with my little red spool and my very first yarn....peaceful, relaxing, little girl thoughts of making something new, wonderful memories once lost but found again....thanks Creativity Angel.
So another dilemma solved.... as you can see I will have lots and lots of I-cord made once all this yarn is knitted up into socks....uuuummmm excuse me Creativity Angel what am I supposed to do with all that I-cord?

I had the wooden spool and nails knitty. I also had the "knitting machine" where you cranked the handle. Both were lots of fun. But tell the creativy angel that when we showed the girl scouts how to do it they sewed them into coasters and hotpads for the table.
